What is Live Webcasting?
Live Webcasting is a form of Broadcasting over the internet, except the Media (Video, Audio, etc.) is LIVE and "REAL TIME." For internet Streaming, Real Time is defined as the packets of data being sent immediately out over the internet as the event is occuring.
In the case of video, a business presentation can conducted via a live webcast. (For Video Conferencing, see the Interactive section). Other webcasting possibilities are: teenagers can conduct their own "Wayne's World" live webcast appearing on their website over the internet, or a live webcast rock concert.

In the case of Audio, a Radio Station can stream a Live Webcast concurrently over the internet as well as over radio waves (known at "Net Radio").
With the internet there is a delay between the webcasted event and the time the viewer receives the image and/or audio. The BANDWIDTH section covers issues such as these delays. Bandwidth is an important subject, and recommended reading.
Also, a multicasting based server is ablsolutely required to run a live webcast. Not all companies have the capital and the resources required for a multicasting server. For those companies, its best to deal with other companies to handle your live webcast for you (see below).
